Reconstruction (Smilodon fatalis)
Graphite. 2024.
A partial reconstruction drawn from a skeleton on display at the National Museum of Scotland. Much of this was drawn on-site, with some corrections and refinements added later. This illustration seeks to express reconstruction, and was featured in the “JOY” exhibition in Coburg House from Feb. 17th-18th 2024. The illustration was also selected as an advertisement poster for Edinburgh College of Art’s Undergraduate Degree Show 2024.
Smilodon fatalis was a large sabre-toothed cat, though smaller than the closely related Smilodon populator.
