Ichthyovenator laosensis

Watercolour, colour pencil. 2023.

This is a highly speculative reconstruction of the animal, and as such many details are fabricated.

A strange spinosaurid found in Laos. The sail of this creature has a notable dent found over the hip, but much of its body including the skull remains entirely unknown. Here, Ichtyovenator has been restored with a crest like other spinosaurids, but it is structured slightly differently, forming a keratinous structure above the eye which is entirely speculative. Colouration and patterning is inspired by various eels and wading birds.
